Krew Elfów (Blood of the Elves) is the first volume of the Witcher Saga, written by polish fantasy writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
The Empire of Nilfgaard has attacked the Kingdom of Cintra. Queen Calanthe committed suicide and her granddaughter, Cirilla, called Ciri, or "Baby Lioness of Cintra" somehow fled from the burning capital city. Emhyr, Emperor of Nilfgaard, sent his spies to find her. He knows that this young girl has great importance, not only because of her royalhood, but also because of her magical potential and bloodlines with the Elven kind.
The girl was protected by Geralt, a witcher - a magically and genetically changed monster-killer for hire, who took her to the witchers' keep - Kaer Morhen. There Ciri was being taught by other witchers, including old Vesemir, Coen and Lambert. She learn a lot about monsters and how to fight with a sword. But during her "education", wizardess Triss Merigold came to Kaer Morhen. She was called by Geralt to help with strange, abnormal behaviors of the child. They revealed that Ciri is one of powerful, magician people, who are called The Source. In the same time mysterious wizard called Rience was looking for the girl. He was the man of some more powerful mage. He caught Jaskier to get informations about Ciri, but another wizardess - Yennefer - helped Jaskier and hurt Wizard Rience.
