Lake of the Hirsel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Lake of the Hirsel or Hirsel Lake is an artificial body of water near Coldstream in Berwickshire in Scotland. It is set in the grounds of The Hirsel, home of the Home family and of the late Sir Alec Douglas-Home.
It covers around 27 acres. It is roughly square shaped, around 300-400 metres in breadth.
It is one of only three bodies of water in Scotland known as lakes, the others are the Lake of Menteith and Pressmennan Lake. Only the Lake of Menteith is a natural body of water.
