Every so often I clear out and delete all the messages on my talk page. I do not keep an archive, I simply delete them on the basis that no one will ever care. I make no apologies for this. I am a caveman.

Please have another look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Eagles (UK band). I'm working on expanding the article, and they definitely pass WP:MUSIC on virtually ever point... I've put a point-by-point summary of exactly how on the article's talk page Talk:The Eagles (UK band). I strongly disagree with a merge to Grainer's article. Although they were his protogee for much of their career, their body of work should be considered seperately: he was a composer of film scores, they were a rock band. [edit] The Economist (editorial stance)

I'm the one who edited the Economist editorial stance page to mention the endorsement of the Democratic Party. I included my reasoning on that page and feel it is a necessary edit. The reasons you cite to remove my article can be used to remove at least 10 of the remaining endorsements and so I feel that if mine should not be included, the entire endorsement section should be removed. Thanks for your vandal-fighting efforts! You warned him after his last vandal edit, so if he vandalizes again, I'll block him. I see you started an article on this rather obscure artist. I am working on a volume which has annotations by a Thomas Baskerfield, d. 1816 or 17, and am trying to establish if they are one and the same. Can you tell me where you got your information from? Wilus 13:03, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fort Recovery

I added a source tag to Fort Recovery as there are virtually no references and on the talk page I point out that too many weasel words are used that should be avoided. I hope you can get some better references or rewrite some of those sentences according to Wiki-style. An interesting article nonetheless. Hi! I am writing on the article to offshore financial centers in the German wikipedia and stumbled on you as someone who knows a bit about banking. Here is my problem:

I am confused about the difference and relation between offshore banking and something I would call offshore markets (obviously not here yet…), this would be markets like the asian dollar market, the Euromarket, the japan offshore market or the market in International Banking Facilities. I am really not much into that topic. Do those markets have a connection to ofcs? (a possible redundancy evolved in the German wikipedia and I am trying to solve it…). --Kricket 16:06, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Offshore banking tends to refer to private banking, conducted for the benefit of wealthy individuals. It often relates to the operation of banking facilities or investments in a tax haven or OFC, but need not necessarily do so. Interbank markets usually refer to commercial banking markets, such as the eurodollar markets, ie. when one bank needs to obtain funds from another bank (the various interbank markets are usually better known by the applicable interest rates, such as LIBOR, Euribor, SIBOR, TIBOR etc.). The interbank markets are not really directly connected with OFCs in a commercial sense, although obviously the two fields bump into each other pretty regularly in every day commercial life. Well, I did a bit of google-research and found a source (my point is the last sentence):

"The definition of an OFC is far less straightforward. At its broadest, an OFC can be defined as any financial center where offshore activity takes place. This definition would include all the major financial centers in the world. In such centers, there may be little distinction between on- and offshore business, that is a loan to a non-resident may be funded in the center's own market, where the suppliers of funds can be resident or non-resident. Similarly, a fund manager may well not distinguish between funds of resident customers and those of non-residents. Such centers, e.g., London, New York, and Tokyo could more usefully be described as "International Financial Centers" (IFCs). In some cases, e.g., New York and Tokyo, some of this activity, but by no means all, is carried on in institutions which are favorably treated for tax and other purposes, e.g., the U.S. International Banking Facilities (IBFs) and the Japanese Offshore Market (JOM)." [2]

Also look at table one in this, the U.S. are named as Offshore because of the IBFs. At least the IBFs are also designed to work for non-banks (look here). The IBFs seem to be organisationally detached from their domestic markets.

A definition for Euromarket I found (only in German) says that it is trade with any currency, that is not the official currency in the location it is traded in (f.e. Dollar in London; DM in Luxemburg (the source is not that fresh:-)) That is basically what is happening in any offshore center, is it not?

Hello. I notice you recently created Trust law/Civil Law Jurisdictions and similar splitoff articles. You might want to know that our manual of style does not recommend naming subarticles in that quasi-hierarchical way; rather, the name should be "Trust law in civil law jurisdictions" (see here for detailed guidance).
