Water Tower in Levittown

Levittown, Puerto Rico, part of the municipality of Toa Baja, is one of the largest planned communities in Puerto Rico.

Levittown is divided into eight sections (called secciones) and different sub-divisions called urbanizaciones "suburbs" or gated communities. Levittown is famed for its large light blue painted water tower (now no longer used) that was one of the first to provide potable water in Puerto Rico's history.

Levittown main avenue is Boulevard Ave., it has a public beach known as Punta Salinas and also one of the biggest sports center of the Metropolitan Area of San Juan, where the only Olympic Pool of the Island has been in use since its construction in 1977. Levittown is a beach community, many of its youngsters know how to surf and its High School is named after a great political leader called Pedro Albizu Campos.

The Boulevard Avenue have the largest small business buildings in the entire urbanization. Also the Los Dominicos Avenue is the second main avenue and connects to other urbanizations like Sabana Seca and to the city of Bayamon. Levittown have over three shopping centers. The 165 highway connects the city of Toa Baja with Cataño and Dorado. The 165 is a scenery route and provide a coastal view. Punta Salinas radar, and El Morro are visible. At night, the Morro's lighthouse is visible as well as the Cataño power plant.

Punta Salinas, the public beach, is also the home of a Puerto Rico Air National Guard unit, 140 ADS, that provides air traffic control support to the FAA, military and law enforcemnt operations. It is also the home of a Civil Air patrol squadron. One of several in Toa Baja city.

Levittown is in constant growth, and provides Tropical weather all year round. Because of the Water Tower, also known by pilots as "Levittown Water Tank", provides visual navigational checkpoint to all sorts of aircraft flying to either Isla Grande airport or incoming airline flights to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport. The airspace traffic over Levittown is heavy as it is on the streets.
