On February 23, 2007, The Used announced that their new record will be called 'Lies For The Liars', and is set to be released on May 8, 2007. The used have now postponed the release date of their new record to May 22nd according to tasteofchaos.com.

In a recent interview with frontman Bert McCracken, he explained that it was going to be "their heaviest album to date", "and contains loads of screaming". Guitarist Quinn Allman explained the same, but said "it's sort of a party album". The first single from the album will be "Handsome Awkward". On the Berth dvd a short clip of Bert screaming some kind of chorus to "My Pesticide" can be heard, and also, you can see Bert singing some of "Light In A Tunnel". Also 90 seconds of "Handsome Awkward" is heard while playing over a montage of video clips.

In a recent interview with the magazine Metal Edge, The Used said they have so many songs they will release an EP or two after the release of their album to make sure all of the tracks get out. The Used planned to produce a double album, but unfortunately, they ran out of money.

The names of these tracks (besides My Pesticide, and Light in a Tunnel [which are confirmed in the CD/DVD Berth] are confirmed in an interview in the magazine Alternative Press. The Ripper was confirmed in Revolver magazine and Earthquakes and Hospital was on the set list for Taste of Chaos. Silt Your Own Throat was confirmed in an mtv article.

In a recent interview with singer Bert McCracken, he explained that The Used "no longer wanted to be a part of the scene that was eating them alive right now, screamo". He also explained that this album is going to be heavy rock, but shying away from the emo genre. People who liked Bert's voice "are going to like it even more, people who hated it, well they are going to hate it even more".
