The idea of Selbstopfer (self-sacrifice), or suicide duty, was not widely received by German air force authorities, but did appear in several different military programmes. There were at least two suicide attacks the first was on April 07, 1945 by "Sonderkommando Elbe" , also known as "Rammkommando" against bomber formations of the United States Army Air Forces. A second was made by the Leonidas Squadron against bridges over the Oder River.
