[edit] Full-Blooded Saiyans

[edit] Broly character appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Main article: Broly

The Legendary Super Saiyan who was born on planet Vegeta, the same day as Goku, the day Freeza destroyed planet Vegeta. Broly bore a deep grudge towards Goku, so much that it drove him insane. Arguably and possibly the most powerful character in the series up until the Majin Buu saga, he was born with a power level of 10,000, a level not seen by any fighter in the entire Raditz saga. His grudge is fueled by the fact Goku wouldn't stop crying in the adjoining infant pod, when they were babies. Broly was right next to Goku, making the sight of Goku bring back all those memories.

[edit] Bio-Broly character appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Main article: Bio-Broly

A bio-engineered clone of Broly that becomes disfigured by containment slime and wreaks havoc in an island laboratory in DBZ Movie #11, Bio-Broly. Bio-Broly is eventually defeated when ocean water causes him to solidify and turn to stone by chemical compounds, after which Goten and Trunks blow him up.

[edit] Burdock character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Burdock
Burdock

(FUNimation's dub: Bardock)

Burdock (バーダック Bādakku?) is widely known to audiences as Bardock due to his introduction in the DBZ series, and in the television special, Bardock - The Father of Goku. It was only after the video's summer release in Japan that he was later shown in two panels of the manga by Akira Toriyama, who helped design the character for Toei Doga's theatrical production.[1] His name is a pun on "burdock" (バードック bādokku?), an herb. While the Viz manga and FUNimation's Japanese-language English-subtitled anime[2] both use "Burdock", FUNimation's English anime dubs uses "Bardock", and some Japanese merchandise even use "Barduck".[3]

The biological father of Kakarotto (named Son Goku on Earth) and Raditz, Burdock is a saiyan warrior who is given the gift of precognition. In several of his recurring visions, he witnesses the destruction of his home planet Vegeta by the hand of the tyrant king Freeza. After escaping certain death from Dodoria, he tries desperately to change his planet's grim future by attempting to fight Freeza and his legion of men head on. He ultimately fails on stopping Freeza's attack on the planet and is killed in the process. Moments before his death, he has one final vision of his son, Kakaroto, facing the warlord.

According to the anime special, while recovering from his last mission, Burdock was estimated a battle power of just under 10,000 by observant doctors.[4]

Voiced by: Masako Nozawa (Japanese), Sonny Strait (English)

[edit] Illusion Saiyans

Brocco, Pumpkin, and Onion are Illusion Saiyans (Maboroshi no Saiya-jin) who only appear in the Pendulum Room, and/or in the Famicom game Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyajin. Brocco is a tall, muscular Saiyan with long brown hair and grayish skin, and Pumpkin is a short, bald Saiyan with navy blue hair around his head and two scratches on his face. In the Saiyan Saga, Tenshinhan, Yamcha, Kuririn and Chaozu use the Pendulum Room to travel through time and face Brocco and Pumpkin in the past to prepare for the upcoming battle with Vegeta and Nappa. Onion is palette swap of Pumpkin that only appears in Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyajin. He is able to transform into an Oozaru, which is simply a palette swap of Vegeta's Oozaru form in the same game.

[edit] King Vegeta character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

King Vegeta
King Vegeta

King Vegeta (ベジータ Bejīta?) is the king of all Saiyans and the father of Vegeta. He was said to be one of the strongest Saiyans in his time, but is definitely not the strongest Saiyan ever, as his son surpassed him even as a child. King Vegeta realized that Freeza had no further use for the Saiyans and no longer needed them around. After trying to oppose Freeza and attack him, King Vegeta is killed with a single blow to his chin. In the movie Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan, he ordered both Broly and his father Paragus' assassination because he was afraid of the child's growing power level.

King Vegeta is only seen in the anime special, the film Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan, and some filler episodes. King Vegeta's appearance is never shown nor described in the manga, but he is mentioned briefly in a dialogue from Freeza to Vegeta in the original manga. In the FUNimation dub, he is voiced by Christopher Sabat.

His name, like his son, is a pun on "vegetable".

[edit] Nappa character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in the Dragon Ball GT series

Nappa
Nappa

Nappa (ナッパ?) is a large bald Saiyan warrior. Nappa was Vegeta's partner during the Saiyan Saga. Nappa is introduced as an almost invincible warrior with a terrible rage. During his battle with the Earth's defenders, Chaozu, Tenshinhan and Piccolo were killed. When Nappa was defeated by Goku though, Vegeta personally finished Nappa off for his weakness. In Dragonball GT, he returns from Hell to obliterate an entire city, but is easily defeated by Vegeta. His name is a pun on "nappa", or "Chinese cabbage." In the Ocean Group dub, he is voiced by Michael Dobson, Christopher Sabat in the FUNimation dub, and in the Ultimate Uncut version, Nascar Racer Phil Parsons.

[edit] Onio

Onio
Onio

Onio is a short fat Saiyan from the parody Neko Majin Z. He comes to Earth in a spaceship that reads "Just Marriage" (An Engrish version of "Just Married), and tells his wife he's thinking of making the planet their summer home. When Z sees them land, he decides they must be Japanese tourists, and puts on a Koala suit. Z tricks Onio and his wife into getting their picture taken, but grabs the wife's right breast while the picture is being taken. Onio notices this, and transforms into a Super Saiyan. After a short battle, Z transforms, and says now he's a "Super Neko Majin". The two continue to fight for a while, and Z beats him with a "NekoHameHa". Onio's wife drags him to the ship, and the two leave Earth.

Onio later comes back to Earth with Kuriza, and says that Kuriza is the strongest warrior in the universe, so it appears that Onio is Kuriza's henchman. Onio sticks around on Earth for a while to watch Kuriza fight Z and to play soccer.

His name is a pun on "onion".

[edit] Panbukin character appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Panbukin
Panbukin

(FUNimation's dub: Shugesh)

The fat, quick-tempered member of Burdock's team. He is injured while battling in Oozaru form, and retaliates by crushing the alien that hit him, who, before dying, gave Burdock the ability to see the future. On Planet Meat, he is killed by a group of Freeza's underlings, including Dodoria.

His name is a pun on "pumpkin", well fitting his overweight.

[edit] Paragus character appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Paragus
Paragus

The father of Broly, both of whom despised King Vegeta (and by proxy, his son). When Freeza destroyed Planet Vegeta, Broly used a sphere of his own power to protect himself and Paragus, and transport them to another planet. Paragus raised Broly, and eventually had a scientist create a crown capable of restraining, and controlling Broly's rage and power. He later came up with a plan to get revenge on Vegeta, but failed due to Broly breaking the crown and going berserk. He was killed by Broly who threw his escape pod into a comet. Paragus also makes a cameo appearance in Movie 12 as a villain in the background behind Freeza after they escape from hell. He also makes an appearance during cutscenes with Broly in Dragon Ball Z: Super Sonic Warriors 2. This was the only game he ever appeared in but not as a playable character.

His name is a pun on "asparagus".

[edit] Raditz character appears in the Dragon Ball Z series

Raditz
Raditz

Raditz (ラディッツ Radittsu?) is the biological brother of Son Goku and the eldest son of Burdock. He is essentially a warrior in Freeza's army, and works alongside Vegeta and Nappa. While working on a team led by Vegeta, Raditz traveled to Earth to find out why Goku hasn't finished the mission that he was sent on as a baby: the overthrow of Earth. Upon arrival however, Raditz discovered that Goku has lost his saiyan violent tendencies and also has no knowledge of his ancestry or his true species. Raditz attempted to persuade Goku to join him and take over the planet, but to no avail.

After discovering Goku had become peaceful after recovering from a severe head injury as an infant, Raditz kidnapped Gohan as blackmail to make Goku kill 100 humans so that he would lose his inhibitions towards killing. At this time, he was stronger than Goku, and it took a team effort of Goku and Piccolo (with assistance from Gohan) to defeat him. He was voiced by Jason-Gray Stanford and later Justin Cook.

His name is a pun on "Radish".

[edit] Seripa character appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Seripa
Seripa

(FUNimation's dub: Fasha).

The only female member of Burdock's crew. After Burdock is attacked by one of the last surviving members of Kanassa, Seripa and others decided to return him back to their homeworld Planet Vegeta so that he could be healed. After hearing that there is some possible damage in his brainwave patterns they've decided to leave without him to destroy the inhabitants on Planet Meat as their next assignment. After reaching Meat they immediately destroy all of its natives, but before they could celebrate the moment, she and the rest of the team were ambushed and killed by a group of Freeza's henchmen on his orders, including Dodoria. She resembles a muscular version of Videl. Her name is a pun on the vegetable "parsley".

[edit] Son Goku character appears in the original Dragon Ball seriescharacter appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in the Dragon Ball GT seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Main article: Son Goku

Goku is the main character of Dragon Ball. He is believed to be the most powerful being in the entire universe. His father's name was Bardock and his brother is Raditz. Son Goku was the first Saiyan in over 1000 years to become a Super Saiyan (except perhaps Broly) and the first and only Saiyan ever to become a Super Saiyan 3 (excluding Gotenks as he is a fusion) as well as the first to become a Super Saiyan 4. Goku defeated the evil and self proclaimed "strongest being in the universe",Frieza, ending Frieza's grasp on the galaxy that had lasted centuries. During the Buu saga, he was brought to life for a limited time so that he could compete in the World Martial Arts competition on earth, but events lead to the unraveling of Majin Buu. After his time was up, Elder Kai gave his life in place for Goku's so Goku could fuse with Gohan through the Potara earrings. This failed since Gohan was absorbed so Goku decided to fuse with Vegeta to create Vegetto. Goku possessed all the Dragonballs at the end of DBGT when he was taken by the Shenlong.

His Saiyan birthname is Kakarotto (Kakarot in the English anime, and Kakarrot in the manga), which is a pun off the vegetable "carrot".

Son Goku has two sons named Son Gohan and Son Goten.

[edit] Toma character appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Toma
Toma

(FUNimation's dub: Tora)

A tall masculine member of Burdock's team. He's the only person Burdock gets a chance to talk to when he finds his group slaughtered by Dodoria and some of Freeza's underlings. The bloodstained headband that Burdock wears was worn by Toma as an armband when he was still alive. Burdock removed it from him after his death and wore it as a headband honoring his team. Burdock and Toma were best friends.

His name is a pun off of "tomato".

[edit] Totapocharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Totapo
Totapo

(FUNimation's dub: Borgos)

A large, balding member of Burdock's team; often keeping to himself when not eating or on missions. Like his teammates, he is killed while on assignment on Planet Meat by Dodoria's men, per Freeza's orders.

His name is an anagram on "potato".

[edit] Tullece character appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Tullece
Tullece

(FUNimation's dub: Turles)

Tullece (ターレス Tāresu?) is a Saiyan that resembles Goku in appearance, and is the villain in The Tree of Might. He tells Goku's son, Gohan, that he and Goku are struck from the same mold but two completely different people (saiyajins). He travels to Earth to plant the seed of the tree of might, so he can eat the Fruit of the Gods, and become exponentially stronger than before. He and his henchmen battle the Z-fighters while waiting for the tree to grow. Eventually, Tullece grabs a piece of fruit from the tree. This makes his strength dramatically increase. Even with a Kaioken at ten-times its normal strength and a Genki-Dama formed from what little remained of the planet's energy, Goku is unable to topple Tullece. It is only with a newly formed Genki Dama that Goku is able to defeat Tullece. Tullece later appears as a 'ghost warrior' in Dragon Ball Z Gaiden.

Tullece's unique attacks include shooting multiple blasts from his hand, shooting a flaming energy ring known as the Kill Driver (from Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2) and creating a ball of energy that replicates the moon. The ball emits Bruits Waves which allow a saiyan to transform into an Oozaru. He avoids this when fighting, although it is unknown as to why he chooses to do so. In Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2, his Oozaru form in the game is typical of untrained lower-class soldiers, so his mind goes out of control.

His name is a pun on "lettuce".

He is voiced by Masako Nozawa (JP) and Chris Patton (Eng)

[edit] Vegeta character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in the Dragon Ball GT seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Main article: Vegeta

The Prince of Saiyans, a proud and powerful character, he is initially an enemy who is defeated and eventually sides with the Z Fighters. Constantly at odds with Goku, Vegeta is disgusted with the fact that he, an elite Saiyan soldier, is frequently out-done by what he considers a low-class like Goku. Ultimately, by following Goku, he achieves a power that he would have otherwise never seen, the level of Super Saiyan 4 (although only with the help of Bulma's machine; the Blutz Ray). One of the strongest warriors in the entire universe, despite never showing Super Saiyan 3.

His name is a pun on "vegetable".

[edit] Partial Saiyans

[edit] Bulma's Descendant character appears in the Dragon Ball GT series

This woman is a descendant of the Briefs family. It is unknown if she comes from Trunks or Bra's family line. She appears at the end of Dragon Ball GT to support her son, Vegeta Jr..

[edit] Bra character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in the Dragon Ball GT series

(FUNimation's dub: Bulla)

Bra
Bra

Bra (ブラ Bura?) is the second child (after Trunks) of Bulma and Vegeta. Unlike Pan who acts tomboyish, Bra acts feminine and sticks around her mom. Like Bulma, Bra has blue hair in the anime and purple hair in the manga. Her father doesn't appear to make a point of encouraging her to train (like he does to her brother Trunks), but the two are quite close, as it becomes apparent in DBGT, where Vegeta proves to be very protective of his daughter on subsequent occasions. During the Baby Saga, Bra (along with the rest of the world) is possessed by Baby. She is one of the four characters who help Baby become stronger; after this, however, her role is greatly reduced. Although she has never been seen in combat, except when Baby had her under his control, she does have the ability to fly through use of her ki.

[edit] Future Gohan character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Main article: History of Trunks

Goku and Chichi's son from the alternate future where Future Trunks came from. Despite becoming a Super Saiyan, he is killed by Androids #17 and #18.

[edit] Future Trunks character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Main article: Future Trunks

Vegeta and Bulma's future offspring who goes back in time to save Goku and warn the Z-fighters of an upcoming threat.

[edit] Pan character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in the Dragon Ball GT series

Main article: Pan

The daughter of Gohan and Videl. She is 1/4 Saiyan blood.

[edit] Son Gohan character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in the Dragon Ball GT seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Main article: Son Gohan

First-born son of Goku and Chi-Chi. He is the first one who ascended to the level of Super Saiyan 2 and the only one who achieved his ultimate full potential (also called the "mystic" form, by fans).

[edit] Son Goku Jr. character appears in the Dragon Ball GT series

Goku Jr.
Goku Jr.

Son Goku Jr. (孫 悟空 Son Goku Juniuru?) is Son Goku's great-great grandson (Pan's grandson). Just like his great grandfather Son Gohan at a young age Goku Jr. is very timid, and would run away from situations like being bullied. He would not do anything to retrieve what was stolen from him. He is seen once at the end of Dragon Ball GT, fighting in what may be the 64th Tenka-ichi Budōkai against a distant descendant of Vegeta's, Vegeta Jr. He also appears in the final Dragon Ball Special, A Hero's Legacy, in which he meets Goku. He might be only 1/16th Saiyan and has the power to become Super Saiyan, even with his diluted Saiyan blood.

His gi resembles Goku's, with the exception of having blue pants and a teal shirt underneath his vest (though in the finale of Dragon Ball GT, he wore Goku's preserved, ancient gi). Goku Jr.'s hair is in the same style, shape and form of Goku's. His hair and eye color are both black. His headband is red, which makes it resemble the headband Burdock wore before he took on Freeza to defend the Saiyan race from eradication. His skin color resembles Son Gohan's; milky white or very lightly tanned. The only notable difference between him and Goku and/or Goten is his face, which more resembles his mother's side of the family.

[edit] Son Goten character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in the Dragon Ball GT seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Main article: Son Goten

Second-born son of Goku and Chi-Chi and resembles his dad quite alot. Goten and his best friend Trunks were two of the youngest characters to reach Super Saiyan.

[edit] Trunks character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in the Dragon Ball GT seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Main article: Trunks

The son of Vegeta and Bulma. He and his best friend Son Goten were two of the youngest characters to reach Super Saiyan. He is one year older than Son Goten.

[edit] Vegeta Jr. character appears in the Dragon Ball GT series

Vegeta Jr.
Vegeta Jr.

Vegeta Jr. is a descendant of Vegeta, seen once at the end of Dragon Ball GT. He is much like Vegeta in name and attitude. He fights in the Tenka-ichi Budōkai against Son Goku's great-great grandson, Son Goku Jr.

He is the either the great-great grandson or great grandson of Vegeta and Bulma. He enters a tournament and his challenger is Son Goku Jr. When Vegeta Jr. first sees Goku Jr., he says: "Hey punk, are those rags you're wearing?" He proves to be just like Vegeta. The two competitors are matched equally. Vegeta Jr. lands and goes Super Saiyan and when he sees Goku Jr. do it too, he says "I didn't know we both could go blonde", which leads us to believe that they don't know the actual name for the form.

Note that there is some doubt as to his lineage: he could be descended from either Trunks or Bra, with little evidence providing a substantial case for either. It seems more logical to assume, based on his mother's hair color and the ignorance of the name of Super Saiyan, that he is Bra's grandson, and not Trunks' great grandson.

[edit] Fusions

[edit] Denderotto & Gotancharacter appears in the Dragon Ball Z series

Denderotto
Denderotto
Gotan
Gotan

(Denderotto is used in the tenth daizenshuu, but the form is never named in the anime.)

Denderotto and Gotan are both fantasy fusions in Dragon Ball Z. Denderotto is the fantasy fusion of Goku (Kakarotto) and Dende, and Gotan is the fantasy fusion of Goku and Mr. Satan. Both fusions use the Potara earrings. While Denderotto is only shown in the anime, thanks to Goku's imagination, Gotan is in both the manga and the anime, and is an unlockable in the video game Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2. The English versions of the names are Denderot and Gokule (Because Kakarotto is named Kakarot and Mr. Satan is named Hercule).

[edit] Gogeta character appears in the Dragon Ball GT seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Gogeta
Gogeta

Gogeta (ゴジータ Gojīta?) is formed by the merging of the two powerful Saiyans, Goku and Vegeta, via the Fusion Dance. He is the second fusion performed through the Fusion Dance during the Dragon Ball Z series. He, like his fusion son Gotenks, was a desperate fusion done to defeat a powerful enemy; Gogeta's enemies were Janemba in DBZ and Super Yi Xing Long (Omega Shenron) in GT. Unlike Gotenks, who is seen many times during the Majin Buu saga in Dragon Ball Z, Gogeta is seen only twice, once in Movie 12 (Fusion Reborn) and during the final battle of Dragon Ball GT in his Super Saiyan 4 state.

[edit] Gotenks character appears in the Dragon Ball Z seriescharacter appears in Dragon Ball Movie(s) almost exclusively

Gotenks
Gotenks

Gotenks (ゴテンクス Gotenkusu?) is the fusion of Son Goten and Trunks formed by the Fusion Dance to fight Majin Buu during the Buu Saga. Like Goten and Trunks, his personality is very childish. He plays games even when faced with an opponent like Buu. He creates many different moves while fighting, all while trying to look like a hero. He is one of the two saiyans able to transform into a Super Saiyan 3.

[edit] Vegetto character appears in the Dragon Ball Z series

Vegetto
Vegetto

(FUNimation dub: Vegito, English Manga: Vegerot)

Vegetto (ベジット Bejitto?) was a fusion performed out of desperation by Vegeta and Goku in an effort to stop Majin Buu. He dominated against Buu, stopping Buu's every attempt at victory. Eventually, Buu turns Vegetto into a jawbreaker, who then begins attacking Buu in candy form. Buu cannot handle it and transforms Vegetto back to normal, and then absorbs him the normal way. Vegetto, before being absorbed completely (like Gohan, Gotenks, etc.), creates an energy field around his body. Vegetto's plan in this move was to free the people that Buu had absorbed from the inside. Being inside Buu cancelled out the normally permanent fusion and separated Vegetto back into Goku and Vegeta, who then proceeded to wreck havoc inside Majin Buu's body.

Spoilers end here.
