These British Basketball League team franchises are now defunct (not teams that have moved). The years given are for the for their BBL appearance only, with the earliest start date being 1987. Many of the founding teams played in the National Basketball League before joining the BBL, whereas some joined, or rejoined the NBL after a stint in Britain's elite basketball league.
