The following is a list of some of the films which use the Wilhelm scream. The sound effect is frequently used by Skywalker Sound (particularly Ben Burtt, who gave it its name) and Weddington Sound, (particularly Richard L. Anderson).

- The Green Berets (4 Times. Just before Peterson says "That's what its all about Mr. Beckworth!" The second is about 30 seconds later. Again just after the villagers are being moved during the attack on the camp (just over a minute after the first 2. And then finally about 10 seconds after the 3rd wilhelm. (You see a soldier pick a VC from behind some barrels and throw him to the ground) Note: the 2nd and 4th wilhelms are different altered versions of the original)

Once when Indy is pushed on a cart into the band-stand in Club Obi-Wan, when Indiana Jones shoots one of the Goons pursuing him through Shanghai, when Mola Ram is eaten at the end of the movie. A near Wilhelm occurs when a Thuggee goon is tossed from a walkway in the mines.)
- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (when one soldier is killed with a grenade during the desert chase.)

- Poltergeist (After the family eats breakfast, Carol Anne Freeling is watching TV. A soldier dies)
- Spaceballs (Barf uses a section of tubing to reflect four laser bolts back at guards. The fourth one hit screams.)
- Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (during the Hoth battle, a rebel soldier's defensive turret dish is destroyed. Another one occurs when Chewbacca throws a stormtrooper from a platform before Han is frozen.)
- Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (when Luke kills one of Jabba the Hutt's guards (a Weequay) above the Sarlacc Pit. Later, Han throws a bag of charges at an Imperial officer in the Endor bunker, knocking him backwards over a railing. That Imperial officer is sound designer Ben Burtt in a cameo appearance, who did his own impression of the "Wilhelm". In the Special Edition, a stormtrooper does a Wilhelm while being savaged by a crowd. In the DVD release, a second Wilhelm occurs after another Weequay is knocked from a barge by Luke Skywalker, and when Boba Fett was knocked onto the Sarlaac.)

- American Dad, in the episode American Dad, when Stan runs up an escalator in the mall and pushes people out of his way, very faint; in the episode Roger Codger, when an agent at the CIA pulls the pin on a grenade and casually tosses it over his shoulder while in the training room. It was also heard in a later episode as two Handicapped Mafia hitmen beat up a rival.
- Angel, in the episode A New World, when Connor throws a knife in one of Tyke's men's arm, the scream is heard, and in The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco at approximately 1 minute, when a guard is thrown in the air.
- CSI: New York, during the episode Grand Master (Season 1, Episode 4) where Mack and Aiden are on a fire escape discussing the murder of DJ Banner. A possible flashback of his murder uses the sound as DJ Banner dies.
- Doctor Who, during the "TARDISODE" (made-for-Internet prequel trailer) for the 2006 episode "Tooth and Claw", as a man is attacked by a werewolf.
- Drawn Together, in the episode "Dirty Pranking No. 2" when someone gets blasted with a robo-fly's raygun, in "The Lemon-AIDS Walk" when Captain Hero takes steroids, in "A Very Special Drawn Together Afterschool Special" during a barroom brawl, and in "The Drawn Together Clip Show" when the Producer opens fire on the audience.
- Family Guy, in the episode "North by North Quahog" when Lois and Peter try to get away with Mel Gibson's new movie from two Catholic priests they drive through a mall and they manage to drive past a piano but the priests drive right at it and the man at the piano jumps out of the way.
- Invasion, when a man is thrown over the edge of a pier during the series finale (May 2006).
- Island of Assassins, when Ellen is fighting in the opening scene (you can faintly hear the scream in the background). Only in the FUNimation dub.
- The Batman episode The Breakout, when Batgirl and Robin are fighting an organization in an elevator shaft, and one is hit by Robin while trying to get to the top of the shaft.
- The League of Gentlemen, on the main menu of the second series DVD, accompanied by the show's theme tune.
- The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, in almost any, if not every, episode.
- Macross, in the episode "Blind Game" when Hikaru Ichijyo takes down a group of Zentradi police officers. Only in the ADV Films dub.
- Masters of Horror Episode 6, "Homecoming", death scream of one of the zombies.
- Primeval, in the first episode, after the Spatial anomaly closes and the Gorgonopsidis chasing the team the Wilhelm scream can be heard. It was also used twice in episode two, and appeared on the episode three trailer.
- Ranma ½, episode "Enter Ryoga! The Eternal Lost Boy", as Ryoga goes down a "straight" path, he runs into a forest, as he gets scared he screams, one of his screams is the Wilhelm (3rd variation).
- The Venture Bros., in the episode "Hate Floats" when The Monarch, Dr. Venture and the henchmen come out of the door just before the closing credits, and at the beginning of "I Know Why the Caged Bird Kills" when the Monarch and his henchmen mistakingly raid an office.

- Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
- Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, occasionally when killing infantry.
- Daleks vs. Cybermen , a Flash video game from the BBC website based on the Doctor Who episode "Doomsday." The humans "deleted" by the player-controlled Cybermen emit Wilhelm screams. [1]
- Eragon: The Game (Demo) After you open up the panels so Brom can shoot the ropes holding the gate up. The gate collapses sending 2 soldiers flying.
- God of War, when you kill the man holding the bridge on the Rooftops of Athens.
- Jak X: Combat Racing, very faintly in the opening cinematic, just before Jak drives through the fish tank.
- Lego Star Wars: The Video Game either Obi-Wan Kenobi or Anakin Skywalker screams it when the player dies during the Space Battle Over Coruscant level.
- Ratchet and Clank During all of the Ratchet games apart from Deadlocked, you emit a Wilhelm if you die by falling into one of the game's many abysses and fissions.
- Spider-Man 2 for the Nintendo DS, when the player throws an enemy off a building.
- Star Wars: Battlefront II Various times.
- Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, when an enemy falls off a ledge and in the second ILM made cutscene.
- Star Wars: Rogue Squadron When killing most ground troops (storm troopers, snow troopers, sand people etc.)
- Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire For the Nintendo 64 version, an imitation of this scream can be heard as the player shoots a stormtrooper, Imperial commando or other living hostile and the AI falls off a high ledge.
- SWAT 4, sometimes when the VIP is killed in the "VIP Escort" multiplayer mode.
- Team Fortress 2, in the second released trailer, when a character runs over some dynamite as it explodes. Also is heard at the beginning when a group of soldiers are killed by an engineer's turret.
- The Game of Life PC game, when "TOO BAD!" appears on a calculator on a "Taxes Due" space.
- World Championship Poker 2: Featuring Howard Lederer: Players leaving an online game emit a Wilhelm Scream.
- Scarface:The World is Yours: Tony Montana emits what sounds like a Wilhelm Scream when he gets eaten by a shark.
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II Various times.
- Neverwinter Nights II Various times.

- Tony Hawk's Project 8 A Wilhelm Scream can be heard on one of the roller coasters in the theme park.
- Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter The scream can sometimes be heard if an enemy is killed by an explosion.

- Davy Crockett's Tall Tales (Amusement Park Ride) In the Davy and Death Hug wrestling scene Davy emits a Wilhelm.
- 4chan's Flash introduction shown at Otakon 2006 contains an Apple IIe user who emits a Wilhelm scream upon being strangled by an elongated feline.
- Runaway Brain: At the start of the cartoon after Minnie says, "From now on, you can date your stupid video game," Mickey's video game character lets out a Wilhelm when he dies.
- TBS Commercials: In some of the TBS commercials. Seen it in the ad for Wizard of Oz, Gladiator, and several others.'
- Elvenking: On the album Heathenreel, the scream is heard at the beginning of the song "Conjuring the 14th".
- In Medal of Honor Pacific Assault a Wilhelm can be heard during the opening Tarawa battle and during the strafing of the Pearl Harbor docks near the CINCPAC headquarters.
- Pledge This, a parody of NPR broadcasters, on On the Media, 2003.

- Gunparade March, in the preview segment for episode 12, a Wilhelm Scream in a female register closes the segment.
- Training Day, when Officer Hoyt beats up the crackheads, one responds with a truncated Wilhelm.
- Spy vs. Spy: The Video Game (XBOX), when a spy gets killed by another spy or a trap.
- Wild Hogs, when Tim Allen gets flung into the air by the bull.
