Talk:List of Moldovans

[edit] Who is a Moldovan?
Well... it could mean either:
- citizens of Moldova, regardless of their ethnic identification
- people that identify themselves as "Moldovans"
Now it seems that this list includes people before the Republic of Moldova existed and that identified themselves as Romanians. Alexei Mateevici, for example, lived all his life in the Bessarabia region (today's Moldova) of the Russian Empire and he always said he was a Romanian. Why should he (and others like him) be a "Moldovan" ? Of course, you could extend the meaning of Moldovan to include all people of historical Moldova, including Mihai Eminescu and Ion Creanga, but this is not the case here. bogdan | Talk 15:16, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Gender
Umm, is Olga Bolsova a sportsman? ;-)
Why are the politicians on top of the list? I'd rather put musicians or writers up there. Or perhaps sort it alphabetically... --Illythr 12:40, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
