Talk:List of Presidents of the Italian Republic
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Looking at the dates the various presidents served, my guess is that Italian presidents serve 7-year terms and can't be re-elected, but the article doesn't actually say this. Is my guess right? Everyking 05:46, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
- Never mind, I found my answer in Politics of Italy: yes it's seven years; two terms aren't forbidden by law but no president has ever been re-elected. Everyking 05:47, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
According to the official site of the President of Italian Republic the Temporary President of State (De Gasperi) and the ones that held the office during the Interim were not Presidents of the Italian Republic (http://www.quirinale.it/ex_presidenti/expresidenti.htm).
