Talk:List of free Go programs
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Okay, I added rankings for GNU Go and some licence information for a few programs. Could someone else help me complete the information provided in this page (by including more info such as ratings for other programs)? Azul
- Ranking computer Go programs is problamatic for a few reasons. For starters, Go rankings are not universal. An AGA 10-kyu is generally considered several stones weaker than an IGS 10-kyu for example. Another problem is that some Go programs are stronger at 9X9 than they are when they play 19X19, some might be weaker, and some can't even play full 19X19 to compare. So Igowin's estimated strength of 8-kyu makes it sound stronger than GNU Go, but GNU Go's stength is based on it's play at 19X19, so when it plays at 9X9 it is much stronger than Igowin. The page for Aya now claims that its strength is 7 "Japanese kyu" but I don't know which standard that's using or anything, so I'm going to hold off on editing. Someone who knows more might want to put that in, though. --70.177.198.80 14:43, 6 January 2007 (UTC)xkcd
[edit] Java phones
Are there any free Go programs with AI that play on Java phones, i.e mobile phones equipped with J2ME? In that case, please add these to the article. 81.191.125.13 19:12, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
