[edit] Need for Game Gear and Sega Mastersystem Lists
Shouldn't List of Game Gear games be renamed to List of Game Gear and Sega Mastersystem games? Games for both systems worked with either system, so they should be listed together. -- LGagnon
- This is incorrect. It's true that Master System games can be played on the Game Gear (with an adapter), but Game Gear games can not be played on the Master System. I think there should be two separate lists for Game Gear and Master System games. Jason One 23:13, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Indeed, and it's not like they were physically the same cartridges: after all, you can get adapters to play games for all sorts of machines on each other's hardware, but that doesn't make them "interchangeable". - IMSoP 00:14, 16 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Repeated vandalism since December 2005
Okay, would the anonymous clown that repeatedly keeps removing large chunks of lists please explain his/her actions? What ever they are, the changes appear unjustified so please stop it.
If this person does not stop, what are the appropriate actions one is to take? I see few other contributions and the IP seems to change every once in a while. --ADeveria 13:54, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Repeated vandalism since December 2005
The problem with banning the I.P. could be a number of things
1. The person is on dial-up, dial up has a static ip, meaning it changes all the time
2. The person is doing it between different addresses, so as to make people think it is a range of people
3. A group of people are doing it.
It does seem to be one or two people as the ip seems to read in the 80's.
A solution could be an area wide ban (ban a whole district), but users do not have that authority.
Other than that there's nothing i can think of.
Try contacting Wikipedia through e-mail or something, but with e-mail, you have to wait a while.
[edit] Continued Vandalism
In continuation of the prolonged vandalism to the page, I have given the suspected vandal 2 Warnings, before they can be banned, they must receive 4 Warnings, then i will proceed to informing administrators, at which time they will ban the vandal from posting for a limited time
[edit] PC games
Why this list don't have information about PC games? Swix 17:50, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, PC games need a list, as well as a PC Game list organized by license it's released under for convienence.--Mofomojo 21:29, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- I just added what was already on Wikipedia about PC games. I couldn't find any list about Windows compatible games, but then again that might be near impossible to do a list of since there are a lllllot of Windows games out there. And really, I only added entries for lists on the two other most popular OSes. And I listed them under platform which makes sense. Listing by license would probably be too much for just a list of lists. Maybe a separate page for that that can be mentioned at the end in the Other entry?--FazzMunkle 01:43, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] What qualifies as a "list"?
User:Touth has been adding a bunch of articles to this list, but the articles being added are generally not lists. (Specifically, Pac Man, Castlevania, Shining Force series, Dragon Quest, and Mortal Kombat series.) They contain lists, but are not themselves lists. The question is, should this article contain links to other articles that include lists, or only those other articles that are lists? Powers 01:14, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- This is an article about lists, not articles with lists. Tons of articles contain lists; there's no point in listing all of them here. Thus, we should only add articles that are a list, not ones that simply contain one. I'm reverting Touth's edits again; if he has a problem with it, he can discuss it here. -- LGagnon 15:33, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- I think both should be on this page if only LGagnon would let me do it and anyway why should they have to start with the wordslist of? i think the series articles should be here too! Touth 20:30, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- We already have an article for series; that's List of computer and video game franchises. This article is a list of lists, not series. We're not going to be redundant and have the same content here as in the franchise list. -- LGagnon 20:36, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with LGagnon, please leave these articles off the page. --ADeveria 22:02, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- I also agree with LGagnon - they're not for here.HawkerTyphoon 23:34, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] a new list
i have just added and started a new list. please feel free to help me improve it if possible. please note that this is my very first creation and i do not claim on being an expert on creating good new articles. Touth 02:20, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Zelda
Touth, stop adding the Zelda link. It's not a list, and thus does not belong in this article. I've told you this again and again, that only lists should be linked from this article. I don't care if you can't create a list because it's a redirect; what matters is that only lists are supposed to be listed here. -- LGagnon 01:18, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] By license?
I think that if we had a list of computer and videogames by their license
For example, list of Abandonware licensed games, list of Freeware games, list of Open-source games, list of proprietary games, etc.
This would be very helpful for PC Gamers, specifically.--Mofomojo 21:26, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Why the move...
We have been re-aligning titles to be more in-line with correct use. All console and computer games are video games, and this page didn't just include those two platforms. It was including handhelds, cellphones, and arcade machines at the least. A rename to the generic video games seems more appropriate.BcRIPster 01:59, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Concerning this page
I have one very simple thing to say: If there's no actual list of computer games yet, why have such a page that only has a link to "List of video games" on it?
In short, If there's no PC games list, why does this page even exist at all?

[edit] List of SG-1000 games
There should be a list concerning the SG-1000, the actual predecessor to the Sega Master System and the first Sega console ever, born in 1981. Although it never reached markets like North America, it's still active part of the Sega systems history and has its own games. Note that this isn't by any way a Master System or a Mark III, but the previous console to this one. (Mr Wesker 16:41, 19 February 2007 (UTC))
I added a link for this page to the Sega section. The actual page still needs to be created.Kolano 05:05, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Categories are better than lists
Shouldn't one expect a list of all computer and video games here instead of a list of lists? This just reminds me of all those pr0n lists out there. ;)
I know this would be an insanely long list, but still. Currently, this list and the Category:Lists of games is redundant. -- Lightkey 04:34, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Why have lists, when you can have categories that are easy to update? Chris Pickett 21:25, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Many of these lists contain more details than seems to be available through the default Categorization functionality (i.e. release dates, region info, publishers, etc.)
- Many of the entries in these lists are the only info in Wikipedia on these titles (i.e. there are lots of games that still need pages created), so to maintain complete lists via categories requires significant effort to create all the stub pages.
Though perhaps some wiki guru knows good solutions to those issues. Perhaps Generated Lists? Kolano 02:27, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see any problem with the lists. A good percent of lists are categories already (List of Wii games: all games are listed under a Wii games cat as one example): but that doesn't mean one should be deleted, to favor the other. RobJ1981 03:39, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe I'm too much of a newb to know how to use them but, categories don't seem to show up readily via the Wikipedia search feature.
- Possibly due to the above, the list pages seem to get significant amounts more traffic. Comparing the discussion pages of a few of the lists vs. their equivalent category shows this. Especially since the lists can show missing titles, they also provide useful centralized locations for content improvement projects.
