Livewire (talk show)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Livewire is a kids talkshow on the U.S. television cable network, Nickelodeon which premiered in 1982 with host Fred Newman until 1989, when Carl Anthony Tramon replaced Fred Newman. Mostly airing on Noggin, Nickelodeon's sister network, LiveWire does not have a permanant time slot as of yet. With the announcement that Carl Anthony Tramon is stepping down to pursue other acting activities, Nickelodeon has announced that they will retool the show with a different, but similar talk show format and revive it with former Disney Channel Mike's Super Short Show host Mike Johnson. The new show is expected to join the Nickelodeon lineup full time. The show had a live audience and was hosted by Fred Newman. For several years it was co-hosted by a still very young Carl Anthony Tramon. The show was a CableACE Award winner.
The show was known for giving relatively unknown bands their first television appearance. Bands and celebrities which made an appearance on Livewire included:
- R.E.M.
- Manowar
- Comateens
- The cast of You Can't Do That on Television
