London SW1 is the London postal district covering the area of central London on the north bank of the River Thames, roughly between Hungerford Bridge and Chelsea Bridge. It contains Pimlico and Belgravia, plus parts of Westminster and Brompton.
Similar to other central London post codes its outward portion is further subdivided into 8 different regions.
In clockwise fashion these are:
SW1Y - St. James
SW1A - the area around Whitehall and Buckingham Palace
SW1H - area east of Buckingham Gate
SW1E - between Buckingham Gate and Victoria Station
SW1P - triangular area between Victoria Station, the Houses of Parliament, and Vauxhall Bridge; eastern part of Pimlico
SW1V - triangular area between Vauxhall Bridge, Chelsea Bridge, and Victoria Station; Pimlico proper
SW1W - area between Sloane Square and Victoria Station, south of Kings Road
SW1X - Belgravia, north of Kings Road
