Louis Malcolm Holley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Louis Malcolm Holley (1949–) was a post office employee in Phoenix, Arizona who had accumulated millions of stolen funds from a Phoenix post office. In June 2, 2001, he disappeared with a large amount of cash, checks, and money orders. He stayed on the run for several months until he was caught at motel outside Seattle, Washington on August 17, 2001. 1.7 million dollars in cash were retrieved at his arrest, and Holley likely destroyed other stolen deposits. Convicted of theft of public money, property, and records, he was given a prison sentence of 41 months.
The case prompted federal efforts to encourage post offices to substantially increase their security and protect public funds.
