Lúcio, full name Lucimar Ferreira da Silva, (born May 8, 1978 in Brasília) is a Brazilian football defender, a 2002 FIFA World Cup winner with the Brazilian national team. With his wife Dione he has two children: Victoria and Joao Victor. They are awaiting their third child.
He is widely considered as Brazil's best central defender and a key member of the Brazilian squad's defence. He also contributes in attack, frequently making runs into the opponent's half.
In the 2002 World Cup quarterfinal match against England, Lucio made a mistake that allowed Michael Owen to score the opening goal. Scolari defended him, stating that Lucio made no other mistakes. In the final against Germany, Lucio bore the full brunt of a free-kick, but managed to stay on his feet to complete playing all 630 minutes of the tournament. He was one of three players to do so (goalkeeper Marcos and defender Cafu were the others).
On the club level, Lúcio played for Internacional Porto Alegre (1997-2000), Bayer Leverkusen (2000-2004), and Bayern Munich (2004-present).
In the junior level, he played for Brazil in the football tournament in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
In the 2006 World Cup, he set a FIFA record by playing 386 consecutive minutes without committing a foul, a streak which was finally broken in Brazil's 1-0 quarterfinal loss to France.
In August 2006, Lúcio was appointed as captain by current Brazil coach Dunga.
In the UEFA Champions League 2006-07, Lúcio scored in both legs against Real Madrid giving Bayern a spot in the quarter-finals.
