LZ Granderson
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
LZ Granderson is a columnist for ESPN.com's Page2. He also hosts the web-based ESPN360 talk show Game Night.
Granderson was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan where he developed a passion for the NHL and hockey.[1] He is divorced with a son.
Before he moved to ESPN and Page 2, he was a sportswriter at the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
However, a Lexis-Nexis search for Granderson in the Atlanta paper reveals that the term 'sportswriter' can only be loosely applied to what he did at the paper. He was employed there for less than two years - from May 2002 to January 2004.
At the AJC, Granderson mostly wrote for an entertainment tabloid, rather than for the main Sports section -- and in fact, was a staffer of the paper's Living section; not its Sports section.
Granderson is one of the few openly gay sportswriters
Granderson's writings for Page 2 usually center around the social and human aspects of sports. He writes about his own personal struggles, the life of athletes, and occasionally about social commentary. He submits two articles weekly for Page 2.
