Manhattan Express is the former name of the roller coaster at New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. It first opened in 1997 as one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the world. The ride's trains are themed to New York taxicabs. In 2006, the ride was renamed to the more generic Roller Coaster
[edit] The Ride
The ride begins with a 200 foot lift and a 144 foot drop. The train then traverses two inversions, a standard vertical loop and a unique twist and dive element, where the train performs a 180 degree spiral and then performs a half-loop maneuver. The ride itself travels along the roof of the casino. The ride's station is themed to a New York subway station.
In 2004 Premier Rides installed magnetic brakes on the ride. In August 2006, Premier also installed new trains to replace the original Togo trains.
