Margaret Kidd

Dame Margaret Henderson Kidd QC (married name Macdonald) (born 14th March 1900 - died 22nd March 1989) was a pioneering woman lawyer, based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

- Scotland's first woman advocate, called to the bar in 1923;
- First woman King's Counsel in the UK, appointed on 20th December 1948;
- First woman to plead before the House of Lords;
- Sheriff Principal of Dumfries and Galloway, 1960;
- Sheriff Principal of Perth and Angus, 1966-745;
- Editor of the Scots Law Times for many years;
- Dame Commander of the British Empire (DBE), 1975.

Dame Margaret Kidd was married to Donald Somerled Macdonald, WS. They had a daughter, and grandchildren.
