Marmot (company)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Marmot is an outdoor clothing and sporting goods company founded in 1973. [1] The company was founded by two University of California, Santa Cruz students who wished to make their own mountaineering equipment. The company has received numerous awards, including Backpacker magazine's Editor's Choice award for their Oracle jacket.[2] Since the mid to late 1990's Marmot coats have been a bit of a trend among African Americans in east and central Harlem in New York City, rivaling The North Face brand in that community. Recently the rest of Harlem and parts of The Bronx have picked up on this fashion trend.
