[edit] Nice photo, but wrong
In the process of updating the information on 'pyrite disease' I also removed the nice, but wrong, photo of the pyrite disk from Sparta, Illinois. It's pretty much agreed now that these things are Pyrite and not Marcasite, so showing it on this page is not appropriate. I've also removed the comment about it being a recognisable form of marcasite. --Jolyonralph 20:38, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] The caption of the photo is wrong
That's not a geode of marcasite (geode means vug). The picture represents the two parts of a breaked bowl of radiated marcasite, probably found in the chalk cliffs along the Channel, north of France.
