Mauricio Alejo

Mauricio Alejo (born in 1969 in Mexico City. Lives and works in New York and Mexico City.) is an artist who has developed a series of photographies, and more recently videos, were he registers situations in which common objects obtain a symbolic and sculptural character. Alejo centers his artistic investigations in the everyday objects of the spaces he inhabits; mainly his minimum actions and interventions are confined to his apartment, revealing a constant tension between the public and private space.
His work has been presented in La Bienal de la Habana, in Le Carrousel du Louvre for Paris Photo, in the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, on the Bronx Museum and Miami Art Central, among other spaces.
