[edit] Biography
MC Face is an MC from Ontario, Canada, who released one album in 1998, entitled Not The Green Tom Show. A combination of comical lyrics and respectable hip hop production, Not The Green Tom Show went largely unoticed.
The theme of the 26-track album revolves around MC Face, a pugnacious and foul-mouthed rapper who is constantly angry with and taking verbal jabs at Tom Green, his square producer who brings on some of his buddies from The Tom Green Show.
Lyrics by MC Face are interlaced with skits in which Face disses Green and a conflict culminates right up until the last track, a skit where Face goes completely crazy. In this mad blaze of rage Face slowly disolves into Green and everything is out the window with Green ultimately regretting ever doing the album.
Even though this track reveals without much doubt that Green and Face are in fact one in the same, Tom Green swears that he and MC Face are not the same person. In reality, MC Face is more of Tom's alter-ego. MC Face hates Tom Green and some of his friends, including Glenn Humplik and Derek Harvie (Face actually builds a friendly relationship with Phil Giroux).
[edit] Rhyme Style
[edit] Flow
MC Face has a very comedic flow, playing on several references to pop culture icons. He has a certain kind of lazy cadence, utilizing his deep, sluggish voice while also keeping on-time with the beat.
[edit] Subject Matter
In many of his songs, Face discusses a variety of topics, many of which are typical of other mainstream MCs (including clubbing, shooting guns and robbing, drinking alcohol), while some topics are very unorthodox (including consumption of horse meat and awkward family experiences).
Also, he has several tracks that address the histories of Tom Green's various friends (all of which are involved in the production of Tom Green's The Tom Green Show), often overblowing a certain minor aspect of their histories in order to portray them in a certain way (for example, in the track "Sex Offender," Face tries to make Derek Harvie out to be some sort of pedophile/rapist/murderer, while on "Humplik The Baddest" he portrays Glenn Humplik as a loose cannon who deals and uses several drugs, while also allegedly using his gun "even for opening a can of fucking noodles").
