McCormick Tractors International Ltd. manufactures a complete range of general purpose tractors for agricultural and industrial use. The company was formed in 2000 by the divestiture of assets from Case IH when Case IH needed to gain European Union regulatory approval to merge with New Holland Ag. The initial assets of McCormick were the Doncaster, England manufacturing plant and the rights to the C, CX, MXC and MX Maxxum tractors. The remainder of the Case IH and New Holland assets became CNH Global.
McCormick is a subsidiary of ARGO SpA.
The Doncaster plant is the headquarters of the McCormick company. The plant has a long history of producing tractors for Case IH and International Harvester.
In December 2006 the parent company ARGO SpA announced that the Doncaster facility was to close with the loss of around 325 jobs. The statement immediately hit the local news, not only for the job losses, but also because the announcement came only a week before Christmas. Production is set to continue in Doncaster until Mid-2007. After then, all production of the McCormick Tractor range will be assembled in Italy amongst the Landini and ARGO facilities.[1]
