[edit] Athletics
Despite the school's short history, it has managed to achieve success in myriad events. The MNHS Ladydogs won the 2006 4A U.I.L. Texas State Championship in soccer, The baseball and softball teams also have a storied history in the playoffs making it to the State semifinals and area finals, respectively. The Football Team was ranked #10 in the 4A State AP poll and #2 in the The Dallas Morning News Area 4A poll, they also have made trips to the playoffs in back to back in both 2005 and 2006. Also, the cross-country program has qualified for the U.I.L. state championship twice and has won 5 district championships in all. The MNHS Debate Team of Sid Singh and Craig Bell also qualified for the U.I.L. State Debate Championship in policy debate, a first for MNHS.
[edit] Controversy
In December 2006 the District Board hired a lawyer to investigate inappropriate behaviour of the cheerleaders with parents and teachers allegedly taking no action. Linda Theret, then Principal of the School, is on paid administrative leave, and the superintendent has said she will not return to the school or any other campus. [1]
As of December 21st, 2006, Theret quit her job as principal and left with a $75,000 paycheck. The assistant principal, Richard Brunner, is still on administrative leave.
