[edit] Plot
It has been 5 years since the alien-seeking agents averted an intergalactic disaster of epic proportions. Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) since returned to the comforts of civilian life while Agent J (Will Smith) continues to work for the Men in Black, the highly funded agency that secretly monitors and regulates alien activity on Earth. While investigating a seemingly routine crime, J uncovers a diabolical plot by Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle), an evil Kylothian monster who disguises herself as a lingerie model. It's a race against the clock as J must convince K — who not only has no memory of his time spent with the agency, but is also the only person alive who has the expertise to save the galaxy — to reunite with the MiB before Earth is destroyed.
A large part of the plot is given to Agent J's relationship with a woman called Laura (Rosario Dawson), who is a witness to Serleena. Rather than erase her memory, J allows her to retain it. As Laura is pulled deeper and deeper into the battle between Serleena and the MiB, she comes to view Agent J as her protector. Ultimately, Laura is revealed as a semi-divine being known as the Light of Zartha. This revelation requires her to return to Zartha, her ancestral homeworld. Serleena, who has been seeking all along to find and possess the Light of Zartha, is killed just as Laura is transported away.
The end of the movie sees Agent K kicking a door open, showing immense aliens living in a much similar world to ours, theorizing our universe is indeed inside a locker.

Following the success of the first Men in Black, the sequel was also a commercial success, although not to the extent of the original and not as popular with audiences as the original. [edit] Trivia
- Because of the time that had passed between MIB and MIB II, makeup had to be used to recolor Frank the Pug's muzzle, which had gone mostly white in the interim.
- The climax of the film was originally to have taken place at New York City's World Trade Center. However, this had to be changed following the destruction of the buildings in the September 11, 2001 attacks.
- During the Mysteries in History video sequence, 'Agent J' remarks sarcastically on the graphics of the video, saying, "this is Spielberg's work". In actuality, Steven Spielberg was the producer of the film.
- Michael Jackson makes an appearance as an agent reporting to the MIB as 'Agent M' or at least someone wanting to be him. Zed hesitates in granting him 'Agent M' status, and refers to an 'alien affirmative action program,' implying that Jackson is an alien.
- Shortly after the release of Men in Black II, Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith pitched an idea to director Sonnenfeld for Men In Black III, but no plans have been made to start production on that film yet.
- Some of the children of the lead actors make cameo appearances in the film; Jones' daughter Victoria played the daughter of a family who was neuralyzed in Kay's old apartment and Smith's sons Trey and Jaden (who would later take a larger role in The Pursuit Of Happyness), played two boys who were neuralyzed after seeing the flying Mercedes 600.
