Mercked

Mercked (verb) is a word used to say when a person has been ridiculed by another. It is most commonly used in football when a player has been successfully beaten, lost possession or has conceded a goal. Manchester United & England Defender, Rio Ferdinand is believed to have pioneered the expression.

It can also be used to taunt or wind-up a person who has been unsuccessful, for example is a man has been unsuccessful in chatting-up a woman¹, or they have made a fool out of themselves by tripping over or spilling a drink or crashing their car² etc...
It is also used in the colloquial context to say that someone has been beaten, lost a fight, and usually insinuates that the person lost by a great deal (e.g. "That boy got mercked, innit")
