[edit] 2004 fire thru 2007 hostage crisis
It was re-opened by Australian billionaire Jasper "Jax" Jacks and ex-mob wife Carly Corinthos after being severely damaged in the 2004 PC Hotel fire and it is now the town's most popular hotel. The Hotel was named after Courtney Matthews who was the wife of Jax at the time. Courtney died while giving birth to her son John (Spencer Cassadine).
Its restaurant has since been the site of many dates, engagements, and parties. Its lobby was recently the site of an explosion where it sustained extensive damage during the final minutes of a sixteen hour hostage crisis. The employees and guests were held in the lobby by masked gunmen lead by James Craig, who was after the contents of a briefcase locked in the hotel vault. This siege lasted almost 12 hours inside.
The crisis culminated in an explosion as the lobby, wired with explosives, was detonated as the police stormed in as the gunmen tried to escape. In the aftermath, the Hotel continued to be a major set, as the search for survivors continued, and a gunbattle as Jason Morgan pursued Craig through the rubble.
