Michael Kallman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Michael Kallman is a sargent with the Broward Sheriff's Office who received scrutiny for joking about police assault upon an unarmed demonstrator in Miami, Florida in November of 2003. In a debrief with officers under his supervision Kallman said, "the good news about being able to watch you guys live on TV is that the lady with the red dress, I don't know who got her, but it went right through the sign and hit her smack dab in the middle of the head!" A video tape of the debrief was made available on YouTube, in August of 2006
Elizabeth Ritter, the woman who was shot by police, has said that she was present at the demonstration primarily because of her concern that police brutality would occur. The demonstration was to encourage global fair trade.
Kallman apologized for the incident after the tape was made public. The Broward Sheriff's Office has taken no disciplinary action against Kallman.
