Michael Whight

Michael Whight was principal clarinet of the Philharmonia Orchestra for ten years and now plays regularly as guest principal with all the major London orchestras.
Michael currently holds the position of principal clarinet with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a chamber musician he is a founder member of the Classical Wind Quintet, and he has worked with Barry Douglas, Robert Cohen, Gidon Kremer and Friends, the Lindsays and the Nash Ensemble among others.
Michael has recorded the complete wind music of Richard Strauss with London Winds and the Mozart Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Michael recently co-founded and conducts the Capital Philharmonic Orchestra which was set up to provide conservatoire students and graduates with performance training and experience.
He is a Professor at the Trinity College of Music, London.
