Michel Raynaud

Michel Raynaud (born June 16, 1938) is a French mathematician working in algebraic geometry. He was born in Riom, France. Since 1967 he has been a professor at Université de Paris-Sud.
Together with Alexander Grothendieck and others he worked on several volumnes of Séminaire de géométrie algébrique. In 1983 he published a proof of the Manin-Mumford conjecture.
In 1987 he received the Prize Ampère from the Académie des Sciences. In 1995 he received the Cole Prize, together with David Harbater, for his solution of the Abhyankar conjecture.
