[edit] Speedy Deletion (A1, context)
I'm not sure what more context there could be about Arrington. Influential blogger and serial entrepreneur are right there in the lead, what would need to be added to provide sufficient context for a bio? Maybe some more fleshing out of TechCrunch and why it is important? PaulC/T+ 09:42, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy Deletion (A7, notability)
Whether you like him or not, Arrington certainly is very well known in the VC and Web 2.0 entrepreneurial communities. Most of this is based on his blog, so I can understand an AfD post with a redirect to TechCrunch, but not a speedy delete. Notability is not hard to assert here (although it does look like it is a bit lacking in the article). PaulC/T+ 09:42, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] I'm new at this...
I agree that a redirect to the existing article for his blog seems to be a good call since it's already fleshed out and that seems to be thing that makes him notable. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by LibearyGay (talk • contribs) 10:16, 6 January 2007 (UTC).
- If you are new at this why are you going around and marking pages as non-notable. How much experience do you have with wikipedia if your first edits are to try and delete articles (with pretty advanced template use...). Very odd. I think it would make more sense to remove the speedy delete templates and put up a prod or AfD. PaulC/T+ 10:25, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Woah, just because I suggested a redirect doesn't mean you should go and put one in. That would still be deleting the content of this page without reaching consensus. The article needs to be put up for AfD and then if people decide it should be deleted and redirected, that is what will happen. I don't think that is the case tho because Arrington happens to be notable and deserving of an article... but I can't stop you from putting it up for AfD.PaulC/T+ 10:30, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Better tags
I think the new tags I placed better address my concerns about this article's inclusion in Wikipedia. It currently reads like someone's resume to me. Working for various corporations and writing a blog doesn't make one notable.
The guideline for Citing sources needs to be followed to support the claims of the article and it needs to be rewritten to reflect why he's a notable personality. LibearyGay 00:14, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
