Ministry of Advanced Education and Literacy (Manitoba)

The Ministry of Advanced Education and Literacy is a government department in the province of Manitoba, Canada. The department's primary responsibility is oversight of Manitoba's post-secondary institutions.
The ministry is the successor the Ministry of Advanced Education and Training, which was established in 2001. Previously, oversight of post-secondary institutions fell upon the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Training. The department's current name was chosen in 2006. Ministerial responsibility for training was transfered to the Ministry of Competitiveness, Training and Trade.
There was also a Ministry of Colleges and Universities for a brief period during the 1970s.
The current minister of Advanced Education and Literacy is Diane McGifford.
