Miral Paris is a fictional character in the Star Trek universe. She is played by Lisa Lo Cicero in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Endgame". Miral Paris was born in the year 2377 on stardate 54973.4, and is the first daughter of Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres.
[edit] Overview
Miral's prenatal care was performed by the Voyager EMH, who detected a genetic defect common to Klingon females in the unborn child. In the past it had been corrected with surgery at birth, but the Doctor used genetic resequencing to correct the problem (in the seventh season episode "Lineage"). This gave Torres the idea of removing many of the child's Klingon genes, thinking it would make life easier for her, an idea that was opposed by her husband, Tom. After much discussion, Torres's proposed gene modifications were not carried out.
Before being born, Miral turned out to be the saviour ("Kuvah'magh") of a band of Klingons (despite the fact she was only 1/4 Klingon) who departed a century ago in search of her and wound up in the Delta Quadrant (in the seventh season episode "Prophecy"). B'Elanna and Tom are suspicious of the Klingons' belief, but in the end it turns out to be true: the Klingons' illness is cured when the Doctor uses stem cells from Miral to synthesize a cure. Tom and B'Elanna add "Kuvah'magh" to their long list of possible names for the baby.
Miral was born when the Starship Voyager reached Earth, after a long journey home from the Delta Quadrant. (VOY :"Endgame")
She was named after B'Elanna Torres's mother Miral.
In an alternate timeline where it took Voyager 23 years to get home, Miral had joined Starfleet, and had become an ensign by 2404. She had been sent on a mission by Admiral Kathryn Janeway to negotiate an exchange with Korath — his prototype Chrono deflector, in exchange for a place with the Klingon High Council. She succeeded as far as Korath agreed to the exchange, but only to Admiral Janeway in person. Janeway travelled to meet them, then dismissed Miral, saying that she should spend some time with her parents. Miral was fiercely protective of Janeway, threatening to break the arm of two Klingons who accused Janeway of being disrespectful. (VOY :"Endgame").
