Miss Universe 1980

Miss Universe 1980 was held at Sejong Cultural Center, Seoul, South Korea on July 7, 1980. Shawn Weatherly of USA crowned as Miss Universe 1980. Sixty-nine contestants competed in the 1980 Miss Universe Pageant.

- 1st runner-up: Linda Gallagher (Scotland)
- 2nd runner-up: Diana Delyse Nottle (New Zealand)
- 3rd runner-up: Maria Rosario Rivera Silayan (Philippines)
- 4th runner-up: Eva Brigitta Anderson (Sweden)
- The delegates who made in the top twelve are: Teresa Lynn MacKay (Canada), María Patricia Arbelaez Pelaez (Colombia), Guobjörg Sigurdardóttir (Iceland), Kim Eunjung (Korea), Gloria Karamañites Davis (Panama), Agnes Tañon Correa (Puerto Rico) and Thilda Raina Fuller (Tahiti).

- In the Parade of Nations, contestants were introducd in alphabetical order, in which each candidate rapidly recites her name and country. However, Bolivia came first before Bermuda and the introduction of contestants continued. When Korea had entered the stage, Japan was not shown on the camera.
- During the preliminary swimsuit competition, Only United States got a score of beyond 8.00 rather than anyone else.
- Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos competed in Miss Universe for the first time. Cayman Islands won the award for Miss Amity.
- Belgium, Cayman Islands, Denmark, Guatemala, Honduras, Norway, Papua New Guinea and Wales competed in Miss World 1980 in London four months later. Wales, Kim Ashfield crowned as Miss United Kingdom and then placed as 4th runner-up in Miss World.
- Tahiti, who was semi-finalist in Miss Universe, competed in Miss World 1979, along with Ireland and Paraguay.
- Venezuela, Maye Brandt, who failed to put her through the semi-finals committed suicide in 1982. Twenty-four years later, Philippines, Maria Rosario (Chat) Silayan, who placed as 3rd runner-up, died of colon cancer.
