Mission on Mars

Mission: on Mars, invented in New York City in 1998, is a New York-based performing ensemble and music collective that mixes live breakbeat rhythms, Indian classical sitar melodies, space-jazz guitar, middle eastern drones, into a funk chilled crater of moon walking beats. Mission: on Mars has provided live tracks for a diverse array of producers & artists in US, Europe and Asia.
Some have labeled the Mission on Mars sound as: eastern raga meets breakbeat, asian underground, live drum and bass. Since 1998, this roving ensemble of live musicians under the M:oM moniker have performed at top New York City venues such as Knitting Factory, the Blue Note, PS 1 Warm Up Series, the Lunatarium, Art Wallah, and numerous Brooklyn underground parties. For sci fi fans, Mission recently composed a global electronic soundtrack to accompany the Mars Exploration. Mission: on Mars has shared the stage with Gary Lucas, Ming & FS, Karsh Kale, and members have performed with Bill T Jones, Alessandra Belloni, Glen Velez, and the Silk Road Project.
Mission on Mars third full length release, titled Tarana Sessions was released in 2007 under the Liftoff: Records label.
