Mixmaster dynamics are the sensitivity of a homogenous group of particles to initial conditions when permitted to collapse under the force of gravity. That is to say, the way in which a homogenous mass (for example a cloud of hydrogen gas) collapses can be extremely dependent on how the cloud was configured to begin with, even when the collapse is governed only by the force of gravity. The changing of the position of only a few atoms could result in catastrophic changes later on.
