EMPLOYMENT

2006- BYU Department of Anthropology Provo, Utah Research Assistant Part-time position working for Dr. James Allison. Responsible for the creation of maps and other documents for permitting/conducting the coming field school (2006), and for organizing all equipment, assisting in the undergraduate field school preparation course, and various other tasks. Also assisting Dr. Allison in his Anasazi ceramic research, particularly dealing with photo/vessel identification from Alkali Ridge in SE Utah.

2005- Uinta National Forest Provo, Utah Archaeological Technician Full-time permanent position under student training placement, performing all duties listed under 2001-2002 Uinta National Forest position as well as limited Leadership Team responsibilities. Specific duties also include: Training high school Youth Corps students and university archaeological technicians and assisting in Boy Scout and community projects. Primary contact for PIT project volunteers for 2005. Also responsible for initial GPS data collection and generation of project and site maps using ArcMap. Employment will extend through each summer of graduate study.

2004-2005 Montgomery Archaeological Consultants Moab, Utah Archaeological Technician Full-time permanent position. Duties included: Writing cultural resource inventory and monitoring reports, generation of ArcView maps, survey, test excavations, resource monitoring, and other technician responsibilities. 3-day ArcView training, Moab, February 2005.

2004-2004 Fed Source through Kelly Services Salt Lake City, Utah Archaeological Technician for Wasatch-Cache N.F. Full-time seasonal position (July through October) under Charmaine Thompson as temporary Heritage Program Leader. Duties included those listed for the Uinta National Forest (see below), as well as technician-training responsibilities and Inter-Disciplinary Team duties for all late summer projects. Also data entry and management, and long-term monitoring.

2001-2002 Uinta National Forest Provo, Utah Archaeological Technician Full-time summers, part-time during school. Duties included: Writing project narratives, site forms, etc for a variety of projects; conducting fieldwork individually and as a crew chief—training volunteers from community and youth programs; and, monitoring heritage resources, completing eligibility and condition determinations. Responsible for teaching Archaeology merit badge to large groups during Powwow events, and creating and organizing a Heritage photo log and other basic documents and systems to assist in data management. Recorded large sites alone and mapped complex sites. Drew detailed sketches of historic and prehistoric structures and artifacts to precise scales. INFRA database (Oracle) training October 2002.

1999-2002 BYU MPC/OPA Provo, Utah Student Aide Both as a volunteer and a paid employee, responsibilities included exhibit staging, collections management and accession, and guest tours. Full- and part-time work throughout BYU study when positions were available. Spring 2002, assisted the Office of Public Archaeology in information extraction from 1970’s excavation notes for Parowan, Utah Fremont culture sites. Spring 2001, inventory compiler for museum’s BLM NAGPRA holdings. Responsibilities included locating records and associated materials stored for BLM. Confirmed presence of remains by object and specimen and generated necessary reports.

2002-Present. Numerous Cultural Resource Reports have been submitted to the SHPO while working for both the Uinta and the Wasatch-Cache National Forests, as well as for Montgomery Archaeological. These include several full excavation and monitoring reports as well as many survey reports.
