[edit] Usage
Using this template is pretty easy. Just insert this text into the External links section of a video game article:
{{moby game|id=<id>|name=<game title>}}
and replace <id> with the entire URL after "game". For example, if the MobyGames URL were:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/heroes-of-might-and-magic
then just "/heroes-of-might-and-magic" (without the double quotes) would replace <id>.
For <game title> insert the name of the game. Note the template will not italicize titles, so you'll need to include the wikimarkup for that.
The template works for series too. For the Heroes of Might and Magic series, one would use "-group/heroes-of-might-and-magic-series" as the id and "The ''Heroes'' series" as the game name. So inserting this:

would give you this:

I'm not 100% satisfied with this template, but it represents a compromise. I'd like the template to italicize the game title automatically, but if it did, then I couldn't use it for series as well. Also the "id" portion is a bit longer than I'd like, but that is due to MobyGame's categoriztion methods. For example, they have one "dos" section and another "nes" section and so on. So, in order to work for all games, everything after "game" in the URL has to be included. I'd appreciate any feedback on ways to improve it.
Once this template is finalized, I can create other template for developer "rap sheets" and video game publishers & developers at MobyGames. I created this one first since I think games are what it is most widely used for. — Frecklefoot | Talk 19:11, Apr 26, 2005 (UTC)
