Moses Carver
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Moses Carver (1812–1910) was a German American settler, and father of George Washington Carver. Originally the "owners" of George's family, after slavery was abolished, Moses and his wife Susan raised George and his brother Jim as their own. He was a particular man; he offended Confederates by being a Unionist, and offended Unionists by owning slaves. For these reasons many neighbors did not like Moses.
