Talk:Mothers Against Noise
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This quote about Lightning Bolt from the M.A.N. page: "While this band primarily plays classic progressive rock (Like Rush) it does incorporate noise elements in its music." pretty much confirms to me that the organization is a fake. A pretty damn funny one, though.

Here are the other mothers against noise links.. someone thinks they are irrelevant
http://mothersagainstnoise.us/ Mothers Against Noise "Official" Page http://mothersagainstnoise.org/ Mothers Against Noise Music Compilation http://mothersagainstnoise.com/ Mothers Against Noise Music Compilation Mirror http://mothersagainstnoise.net/ Mothers Against Noise Parody Page http://mothersagainstnoise.info/ Mothers Against Noise abandoned yahoo groups forum http://geocities.com/mothersagainstniose/ Another M.A.N. Parody Page http://geocities.com/mothersagainstnoise/ The very first M.A.N. website which has since been reduced. It is unclear how long it existed before Aaron Dilloway posted a link (12/17/05) to it on the iheartnoise forum but there is no reference to M.A.N. on the internet before then with the exception of the first Metro Times article (10/20/04). http://www.metrotimes.com/editorial/story.asp?id=6881 First Metro Times Article - cannot find any reference online to where and when Sonic Youth and Wolf Eyes played together in San Diego in 2004. Seems unlikely that if there had been a protest at this concert that this would be the only mention of it. http://p206.ezboard.com/fiheartnoisefrm46.showMessage?topicID=246.topic Original thread started by Aaron Dilloway (has played with Wolf Eyes and is also on Hanson Records) before M.A.N. was all over the net http://myspace.com Awareness of M.A.N. spread like wildfire thanks to the rumormill that is known as Myspace. http://www.mv.helsinki.fi/home/apokela/potlatch2006/giffoni.htm Carlos claims M.A.N. is real and provides no substantiation other than referring to the same story from the first Metro Times article. http://nofunfest.com Organized by Carlos, Many of the bands on M.A.N.'s list have played there. M.A.N. proposed a protest at NO FUN 2006 but did not showup. There has been no mention of M.A.N appearing at NO FUN on the iheartnoise forum. However M.A.N. will probably fabricate a press release saying they did protest and Olsen will probably confirm it.
Hey MAN did 'show up' at NFF, they dropped a CD off and had it played.
LOL.. you mean the MAN compilation from man.org.. yea I meant the mothers that protest from man.us
Nope the real Mothers had a spoken word statement for the attendees of NFF... It was pretty cool!
That is complete bullshit.. are you John Olsen??
[edit] YOU HAVE NO IDEA- OLSEN IS JUST A DUPE like YOU!
Hmm.. no you are the dupe.. Olsen is the perp.
BTW it appears that the recording you heard at NFF was presented ironically by twig and was a message left on his answering machine.. so perhaps he is a dupe as well
MAN is a fraud, a prank and/ or farce but it is not a legitimate organization. Seems to me like the ones in the noise scene who cry the loudest about it's legitimacy are the ones who have fabricated and maintained it's existance.
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/news/06-03/06.shtml#thurstonmoore Thurston Moore signs distro deal with Universal for his label Ecstatic Peace. Several of the band's on M.A.N.'s list have released recordings through Ecstatic Peace. Coincidentally Universal's street address was on M.A.N.'s website whois info before it was changed to a phoney address in DC. http://www.ecstaticpeace.com/ Magik Markers, Dead Machines, Lightening Bolt, Hair Police, Wolf Eyes, Prurient http://www.metrotimes.com/editorial/story.asp?id=8751 John Olson (Wolf Eyes) still claims M.A.N. is real despite Aaron Dilloway saying that it is a hoax. It might also be notable that since the first Metro Times article Olsen's story about why M.A.N. was formed has changed from parents concerned about their children listening to loud music to a specific incident where a youth was somehow harmed on his way home from a Wolf Eyes show. http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/1164/copyofspinmag8rv.jpg Spin Article - Proposes that Andrew WK (has played with Wolf Eyes and TLASILA) is the man behind M.A.N. http://www.villagevoice.com/blogs/riffraff/archives/2006/01/exposed_mothers.php Village Voice Article - Features interview with M.A.N. via their hotmail email account. Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records is owned by Universal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negativland pulled a similar stunt by fabricating a fake press release claiming that they had to cancel a tour because their music was connected to a murder commited by a youth who listened to their music. This went so far as a TV crew showing up to interview them. So much for fact checking.
