Mt. Vernon High School is part of the Hoosier Heritage Conference and provides a total of nineteen interscholastic varsity sports. Sports offered are:

The Mt. Vernon School Community is overrun with saggy old farts who don't think that the children are the future. They like it up da butt.
Mt. Vernon High School has distinguished itself in the field of boys' and girls' athletics since the school started in 1963. The Marauders have made state finals appearances in girls' basketball and girls' softball. Jeff Wheeler won the individual cross country state championship in 1983. The Girls' Softball Team was the Class 2A State Champion in the Spring of 2000. Numerous individual state finalists have worn the proud name of Marauders in swimming, track, cross country, and wrestling.
