"Mr. Bobby" is the name of a song written and recorded by Manu Chao. Chao released it as a track on his 2001 album Próxima Estación: Esperanza. He released the track as a single in 2002. It experienced national success in such countries as Spain and Italy.
The "Bobby" in the title of this song is Bob Marley. Chao's song is intended as a tribute to Marley, who is one of Chao's musical influences.
At least four versions of the song exist. It was first released on the Bongo Bong single in the medley Bongo Bong/Je Ne T'Aime Plus/ Mr. Bobby. This first version is similar to the album version, released years later, but lacks the signature horn riff and ends differently. The single for Mr. Bobby also includes two new versions, the Politik Kills version (with a much deeper reggae influence and with added rap by an unknown artist and political verses by Chao) and the much softer Wyskyfacile version.
