Saruno Amakuni is 15 years old and not the brightest star in the universe, in which all the girls respond to his advances in the same negative way. Being fed up with seeing all the girls fall in love with high school athletes, he decides to join a sports-club himself. He starts looking around at the different sports clubs with the guidance of his friend, Sawamatsu Kengo. They go to check out the weight lifting club (of which there is only one member, a large, frighteningly buff guy), only for Saruno to see a girl that he assumes to be the manager of the club and show off for her. After sufficiently hurting himself, he helps the girl, Torii Nagi, carry some weights off somewhere, and while talking to her finds out that she is actually a manager for the baseball club, not the weight lifting club. Saruno decides to join the baseball club so he can win the heart of Torii.

Saruno Amakuni (猿野天国, Saruno Amakuni^?) : The main character of the series, Saruno is 15 years old, a first year in highschool. He is loud, obnoxious, and perverted, and is desperately trying to find a girlfriend. Due to these traits, though, all of his attempts so far have failed. He joins the baseball club to woo Torii Nagi, bragging that he's a fantastic player and has been playing all of his life, even though he is actually a complete beginner. He has an amazingly powerful swing, and hit the ball past the school, beating the legend. He tries out for first base.

Torii Nagi : The main characters love interest, a manager of the baseball club. A cute, quiet girl, she used to play softball in Junior High, but wasn't that good. She is the manager of the team because she still wants to be around the sport she loves even if she can't play well.

Inukai　Mei (犬飼冥, Inukai　Mei^?) : Inukai is the pitcher, and quite the opposite of Saruno. Saruno calls him "ganguro" due to his tanned skin and silver hair. He used to play softball and can use a special softball throw that rises or sinks, depending on how he throws it. This is just a front, though, his real pitching style is left handed and much, much faster. He calls Saruno "baka saru" which means "stupid monkey". They rather dislike each other.

Sawamatsu Kengo : Saruno's best friend and adviser. Their friendship is questionable sometimes, though, as they make fun, yell at and fight each other often. Sawamatsu helps Saruno train for the entrance exam to the baseball club.

Nezu : One of Saruno's teammates on Team B. During the 5-innings skirmish. He gives Saruno useful advice so that Saruno can stop one of Team A's player's [Pino], due to his 3 Step dash.

Tomaru Pino (兎丸比乃, Tomaru Pino^?) : Tomaru is cute and childish, and loves playing GBA. His trademark is his green striped hat. Tomaru is extremely fast.

Shiba Aoi (司馬葵, Shiba Aoi^?) : Blue haired sunglasses guy who always has his headphones on. He is fatastic at catching balls and plays shortstop. Shiba almost never speaks.
