What does:
"However, in the face of fierce Soviet resistance and active defence of the Soviet Navy, neither capture of the city nor cutting off the vital Karelian railway line resulted."
mean? Can someone rewrite that sentence? I have a feeling it could be a typhical russian way of saying something, and with english words, but I don't know russian...—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.12.155.54 (talk • contribs) .

Severomorsk, NOT Murmansk is "the headquarters of the Russian Northern Fleet", Polyarny being its main base. Kollfan 15:47, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
