[edit] The New York Rangers
The New York Rangers' roster portrayed in the film is entirely fictional. The roster features the following players:
- 11 Jackson
- 44 Kangarpool
- 36 Robertson
- 16 Rory
- 19 LaViolette
- 22 Wasson
- 70 Neskoranty
- 55 Muldoon
- 41 Vogel
- 13 Yeaton
- 10 Kocreka
- 4 Coleman
- 34 Gaynor
The roster also includes players with the numbers 38, 14, and 3, but their names are unknown. Oddly, Wayne Gretzky is mentioned in the movie as a current NHL player and at the time he was a New York Ranger. However, there is no evidence he is on the Rangers in the movie.
[edit] Trivia
Mike Myers cameo as Donnie Shulzhoffer is an obvious play on Don Cherry's Hockey Night in Canada segment "Coach's Corner". [1]
Stevie Weeks, a character in the movie, is also the name of a retired NHL player, Steve Weeks , who played with the New York Rangers.
