Republica was the capital of the Global Union from its establishment in 2018 until its dissolution in 2041. Located near the ashes of Washington, D.C., the capital of the former United States, Republica functioned as the administrative and political center of the most powerful entity the world had ever known. As a planned city, Republica featured many of the virtues which the Global Union hoped to espouse for the rest of the world. Republica had many public squares, gardens, and arenas. Victory Square alone could hold nearly four million people at rallies important to the state. It contained truly massive administrative centers, including the world's tallest and largest building, the Citadel (officially the Executive Building) and the Capitol Building which housed the world's largest indoor hall and arena for meeting of the Global Congress. The city was home to nearly 2.5 million people upon its completion in 2021 rising to 5 million in 2023 and to a maximum of 23 million in 2041, when the city suffered a mass exodus due to the collapse of the Global Union.
