The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) is the oldest and largest Native American organization in the United States that is still in existence. NCAI was organized in 1944 in response to federal termination policies and hostile legislation which proved to be devastating to the Native American nations. NCAI is dedicated to the restoration and exercise of tribal sovereignty and the continued viability of all tribal governments.
NCAI president Joe Garcia delivered the Fourth Annual State of Indian Nations Address on February 2, 2006, at 12:00 p.m. (EST) at the National Press Club.
