From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Regional Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, India, (also known as the National Institute of Technology) is one of the seventeen RECs jointly sponsored by the central and state governments.
Founded in 1960 it has a modern administrative building, library, classrooms, laboratories, a computer centre and a workshop. There are several hostels and residential quarters spread over 380 acres (1.5 kmĀ²) on the bank of the river Kharkai. It is located at Adityapur, an industrial area of Jamshedpur surrounded by large corporates like Tata Steel, Telco and hundreds of small and medium scale industries. Its location combines the countryside with urban industry. The river on one side and large tracts of forest on the other provide natural scenery that contrasts with the nearby industrial landscape.
The institute is now deemed university awarding of degree for the various courses offered by the college.
